THE WEATHER! At last some sunshine! It made the outdoors a great place to be!
THE GOLF! I hope all that played, especially in the comps on Saturday and on Sunday
afternoon, enjoyed themselves as much as I did hosting the events. My idea was to do
something a little different to make the weekend inclusive, but most of all, fun.
Anyone who tried Colin’s Conundrum, the Black Flag on the 9th, well played, but I suspect it
wasn’t the best tactical option.
The Captain’s Challenge, using a 1915 model hickory putter on the 18th green (if you could
get a ball to stop onboard) caused a few raised eyebrows, but there was some very
successful putting and even a few offers to buy it.
From the very kind comments I received over the two days and since, I think I achieved the
aim (…and if anyone needs 200m of red butchers string, I can do you a deal..).
The Men’s Medal on Sunday morning was well attended, although there were some bleary
eyes following the previous night’s indulgence. Some great score across all divisions and
worthy winners in each. The prizes will be presented at the Presentation Evening later in the
year.
Massive thanks to Colin and his team for their hard work and support. The course was
magnificent!
THE BBQ AND MUSIC! I appreciate the weather helped, but I must say huge thanks to Ian,
Emma and their team for great food and great service. And fabulous to see the Clubhouse
and patio full again….keep an eye out for more functions a little later in the year.
WHAT A SINGER! Chantelle Little, all styles, all
eras, and got the dance floor full…hopefully she
will back to entertain us again soon.
Elsham’s very own Head Greenkeeper, Colin Hopper was invited to join an elite team of Greenkeepers tasked with preparing TPC Sawgrass for this years Players Championship.
Speaking from Sawgrass ahead of the Tournament starting, Colin stated that “it really is an amazing place. I can take out of this trip already, what perfection looks like on a golf course. There’s nothing out of place.”
Colin also went on to thank BIGGA and John Deere for the opportunity, before going on to thank Elsham Golf Club for allowing him to take up the opportunity.
