Elsham Golf Club has one of the best supported ladies sections in the area. This is because of our unique way of integrating lady members in all our competitions. The majority of our competitions are played in threee divisions - silver, bronze and 30-36 handicappers - and for each of these divisions we have an open draw for playing partners. So all the ladies get to know others in their division very quickly.
Our Ladies Day is on a Thursday, starting at 12 noon in winter and 1pm in the summer months. For those who cannot make Thursdays, we have alternative playing days on Saturdays or Wednesday afternoons for all medal competitions and medal qualifiers.
On our 'special' days, such as Lady Captain's Day, Lady President's Day, Spring meeting and Autumn meetings, we have a 'fun' competition in the afternon where we mix players from each division in teams - a great way to get to know all our lady members and to have fun at the same time. These competitions are always followed by a very sociable meal and prize presentation.
For those who like match play, we have two league teams and a series of friendly matches against local clubs each year.
The Ladies county championship took place this week (6th May) at Elsham. Three Elsham players entered - Ann-Marie Coleman, Judith Ainsworth and Jan Calder, but only Ann-Marie managed to squeak into the play-offs.
